Weekend Mirror Style

Fully back in the swing of things. New week, hopefully new moves. Losing my holiday glow already from being back at work. Yawn! I’m just glad it seems to be getting a little bit warmer. The last time I did a WMS post it was basically Game of Thrones up in Jozi. I don’t watch the show (don’t @ me!), but it always looks snowy and cold af.

Anywho… LEWKS!

Friday: Back at work, but it was Friday so not much work was done… Lesbi-honest. What did work though was the outfit I threw on. Started with the camo pants and eventually worked my way into this lewk with a pink Topman sweater over a white button up and tan Chelsea boots. The denim worked better than any other coat with these colours. 🙂

WMS - Wk 31 (1)

Saturday: 3 hours boozy brunch with my best, Sunni, under the winter sun was the best start to the day. I was pretty hammered from the bubbly and sunshine by the end of it. Best! Then I hit the burbs for a friends farewell. After my post about Clueless 30th last week I was inspired to do a white cropped sweater over a pink striped button up both from Cotton On. Cher Horowitz did a ton of these on the film. Lower half was my trusted ripped jeans and grey camo D+D loafers.

WMS - Wk 31 (2)

Sunday: Mellow day spent with friends for a cute 6 year old boy birthday. Getting dressed was a scramble. Black is always the easiest option for me when I have no idea what I wanna wear. Was feeling particularly femme so I did a black Puma crop with a black ankle length cotton skirt and grey wool jacket. Silver NBs with red laces added a bit of something something to all the dark colours.

Great weekend. Stayed off the streets on account of energy. But we shall rebuild! Have a goodie cuties!

Weekend Mirror Style

Ok so I had some drinks on Saturday. There I said it! Hahaha. I should’ve known there was no way I was gonna do an art fair without clutching onto a nice little summin’ summin’. It was freezing so I clutched onto some Shiraz. So… so long Dry July. The weekend was fantastic nonetheless. No hangovers to nurse at least. Kept shit classy.

Friday: This was another disastrous morning of trying to get dressed. I wore so many layers also! Looked at myself in the mirror and called myself a genetically mutated onion. So many colours! Anyway… it made sense in my head. Now that I look at the pic I’m like ‘Ummm’. Layered half was a tan poloneck, denim jacket and a pink bomber from Adidas Originals. The more summery part (lol!) were the camo skinny chinos with pale pink Fila platform sneaks. I was dressed. That’s all.

WMS - wk 30 (1)

Friday

Saturday: RMB Turbine Art Fair was a jam. I had my wine. Sipped it slow and enjoyed the art and lovely humans I ran into. There was a lot going on there I very much doubt I finished the whole thing. I looked cute perusing around in all black. The popping parts of this lewk were there dusty pink trench coat I got at a thrift pop up last winter and these sexy ass faux leather heeled platform boots from Zara. My thighs are still sore from this day. I don’t know how some of y’all rock heels on the daily!

WMS - wk 30 (2)

Saturday

Sunday: Errands, pick ups and more errands. That was most of my day. I put on a beret and everything. For what? Lol. Best part of the day was getting ice cream with my baby brother and niece albeit in Fourways. Jk, love it there 🙂 Catching up with my brother meant I had to watch the World Cup Final and learn about the players. Joy. Whatayagonnado? Lovely day in a white textured Chinese collar button up, faux leather jacket, ripped jeans and glossy piano black lace-up shoes. The beret from ivantage yakho was the real winner here.

Another seriously cold week in Jozi. July is out for terror. I got an icebox where my room used be! Stay warm. Look cute. Chew your food.

Glory be to self care. I’ve had such a great weekend. I’ve decided to put the streets and drinking on pause, mostly to preserve my energy which I’ve been a little reckless with tbh. I’ll probably resume in the Spring. Small get togethers and cute dinners are very welcome 😉

Friday: What a disaster! I think it took me 30 minutes to get dressed. I had no clue what to wear. I’m also lowkey holding back from dressing 100% me at work. I haven’t quite dissected that yet – but I mostly don’t want to waste lewks there. Haha. When I finally got it together I threw on some dark navy Levi’s, brown suede boots, a navy and this forest green extra length bomber/parka jacket. The beanie was for colour. I felt so blah. Whatever it was functional. Stayed in, made hamburgers and drank alcohol free pale ale with the houseband.

Friday

Saturday: Hangover free I hit the gym and spent HOURS at Cresta Shopping Mall with my fave Sunni. She’s the only friend I could do a shopping date with. We think the same and map out our needs based on where things are. And we’re both impulse shoppers so we lie to each other about needing shit. Fun! Minced around the mall in deep red ankle length pants, black Adidas trefoil tee, biker leather jacket and black Reebok Classic leather sneaks. Wearing my old school colours with zero triggers – win! Lol

Saturday

Sunday: The rain called for maximum coverage. Only my face and hands were exposed because that sh*t was cold! Mellow day hanging out with one of my oldest friends in Joburg Mpho and her little boy (who is the cutest thing EVER!) Lukhanyo. The brief for our meeting spot was somewhere with a fire place and Piza e Vino Melville was a winner. Nice and toasty with all the comfort pasta. Wore this black coat from Zara with a grey poloneck and black pants. Roughed it up a little with dark brown leather utility boots. It looked too cute without them, something had to be done.

Weekend Mirror Style

Welcome to part two of 2018!! It’s July – my birthday month and the heart of Cancer season. The best kind of people to exist of course. I’ve already gotten a R75 voucher from Edgars, just cos. How nice? Cheap… but nice. The past weekend was pretty amaze. I’m completely exhausted of course because I managed to make all the events I had promised to make. I’m on a social break until further notice. Kisses!

Friday: I knew from ages ago that this last weekend of June would be manic. It all pretty much started right here. After work I rushed to Studio Moma to get my nails did. They were looking like hooves all week. The winter is so unforgiving on my nails beds. My girl Mimi hooked it up as usual, I went with a light grey nail colour this time around. Grey became the inspo for my weekend lewks. I had work on Friday so I was in full drag. White Levi’s branded tee, black jeans, tan Chelsea boots and topped off with a houndstooth print cap. I threw the camp in just before I left the house, it all looked too plain without some print. After nails I had a dinner with my babes, hit up Vogue Nights at J&B Hive (switched to black heeled boots and my wig Yolanda for some extra fish) and went to show the Kool Out family some love on their 10th Birthday party. Manic, but so much fun.

Friday

Saturday: I had ALL the day plans for this day. A visit to the IV clinic for a young boost. Brunch date and a razzle at Keyes and Basha Uhuru. I woke up, got dressed and got sucked into the couch. New episodes of GLOW came out so I binned everything. Part self care and part I really don’t want to – which is allowed y’all. I couldn’t bin the night time because my boo Leon was performing at  Feel Good Series and Mx Blouse at The Tennis Club. They both killed. I love my beautiful and talented queer artists guys. Can we just please support. The grey nails influenced the outfit with me matching them with grey check pants, black polo-neck, black heeled boot and I carried around my chunky mustard sweater all night. It really was just for colour tbh. Matched that with mustard polka dot socks. The heels killed me by the end of the night. How do y’all do it. Yhu!

Saturday

Sunday: Late wake up. Solo lunch at The Richmond in Auckland park. I love it there because it’s never full like the popular spots and it gets the best winter sun. Popped into a friends farewell and wrapped Sunday off at Breezeblock for Sunday Best Selects. Nice ending to a very busy weekend. Kept it easy with more grey to match the nails – striped pants covered with an extra length white tee, black leather platforms from Steve Madden, black biker leather jacket and topped off with a straw basher hat.

Weekend Mirror Style

The first half of 2018 is almost done. So much has happened. So much is happening and so much is yet to come. It’s been a continuously hopeful year paired with more doing than saying – Loves! I don’t know what I usually write in this intro part of these posts, but that’s what I needed to say I guess. Let’s peep some lewks. 😛

Friday: Friday was a dream. Work was cute, I felt cute, people were being cute. Also I’m gonna kill my friend Buhle for getting me onto saying ‘cute’ for everything. Urgh! I lowkey love it obviously. Had my babes over for dinner. We ate, drank a ton of wine and had all the DMCs. So much alignment, healing and positive reinforcement. If y’all don’t do this with each other start immediately – ayimandi! I stumbled upon my Mevrou & Co tee and wore that with black pants, silver New Balance and the star of the lewk was this grey woolly jacket moment I got from VintageGoddessClothing.

WMS - Wk 25 (1)-wk25

Friday

Saturday: So you know how I said Friday was a dream… The wine got the better of me and the devil within thought a young Kitcheners razzle was a smart idea. *buzzer sound* Nope. It was super fun and all but wine was then mixed with gin (mostly cos I hate carrying wine glasses when I’m out) and that was that. My whole day went to the PITS! I voided everything I was meant to do and never left the house. I used to beat myself up about these kind of days but now I’m like “I had a really great time with really great peeps” so, Oh well. No lewks to be seen here.

Fail Saturday

Sunday: The grey coat made a return yesterday and it’s defs one of my fave lewks I’ve put together. A mellow grey poloneck vibe at the top and a colourful pastel party at the bottom. Dark mint green pants and pink suede New Balance 247 luxe brought the fun. A yummy winter look to take to Nirox Roots Music Concert and check out some dzaddy’s with their little ones doing the most. Somehow I managed to sip on some wine again. The sun required it. Allow.

Writing these posts are so fun for me. Stay hopeful. Keep doing. If you feel it’s right it doesn’t have to make all the sense at the moment. Trust that it will.

Weekend Mirror Style

I am EXHAUSTED!! The last 4 days have been very eventful. M.I.A on Friday was FIRE! Home-girl put on a show for her chil’ren. Saturday was well… trippy. Sunday saw the ‘3 Babes’ do an excursion into the North and Monday was spent in Diepsloot helping a school with their computer lab and library. I legit slept for like 12 hours last night. That being said, I’m looking forward to the week.

Friday: Most of this day was spent doing as little as possible at work, dying in meetings while anticipating M.I.A. I remembered that I once had an off-white jersey so I dug it out and wore it. The supporting acts had to have some colour so I went with a red check button up and dark blue skinny jeans. I tried black jeans, it just didn’t work. The mustard socks were for more colour against the brown suede ankle boots. Cute winter look.

WMS-Wk23 (1)

Friday

Saturday: One thing we can be grateful for about Jozi winters is the afternoon sun. Nice and warm (for the most part). Took advantage by wearing my tartan skirt, that most people think is a kilt. It’s very much a skirt. I need to get one those strong diaper pins to fasten the flap because I was flashing all sorts of people whenever some wind would show up. Wore the skirt with a navy polo-neck and white old-school design New Balance. 3 items, simple but effective in creating a full lewk. Fave!

WMS-Wk23 (2)

Saturday

Sunday: Going to the North of Johannesburg is an excursion and a half. The Farmers market is always nice for sunshine and some yummy food but coming from downtown it’s a mish! But we sucked it up and paid millions for an Uber to Fourways. What I’m finding is that deciding on a “main” item then working with it is what works best when I get dressed on weekends. I decided on a grey and black striped kimono for Sunday and added in the oversized white tee, ripped pale blue jeans and white Asics Gel-Lytes around it. The colourful cap I added in just for control (and effect).

New week. New month. New goals? I just realised I haven’t had a post Burn and Bushfire detox. Only did an emotional one if that’s even a thing. Mini goals are goals too. Next week I’m gonna detox the hell out of myself. I have the MIA concert coming up on Friday and her doccie film on Saturday and I doubt I’m gonna be able to stay away from the brown juice. Know thyself they say.

Friday: Thanks to requiring a new tracking system for Onika (my car) I spent half the day working from home. A policy they have at work but I have a feeling is frowned upon. It certainly minimised my office time. This lewk was inspired by my mustard Air Max. I haven’t worn them in yonks and grey and  black always work great with the colour. Gray poloneck, black jacket, polka dot socks for a bit of fun, ripped denims and my new mustard scarf. One of my faves. Thanks Nike!

20180601_090448

Saturday: I guess I transferred the polka dots from the socks into this outfit. Got this shirt dress situation from iVintageYakho in Newtown. I have so much stuff from them at this point. I need to see other people. Lol. Wore a white Sandra Bernhard tee under it a friend got for me in the US on her comedy tour. Some one put their stubby finger in her mouth at Great Dane… Urgh. Finished the lewk with Black ankle length pants, red New Balance and newly dyed hair. Pushing a Jean Grey (circa X-Men 3) colour now.

20180602_132419

Sunday: GD and Bitch Slap were way too lit. Just as well I’m going on a detox because I spent squillions on drinks and shots. Huge mistake. I spent the day on the couch paying for every gulp. Cancelled errthang. For what it’s worth I was in the same Sandy B tee from the night before and scanties all day. Sigh.

Make those little goals and snatch em by their edges. It’s officially winter and all the more reason to layer up and look cute doing it.

Have a great week!

I love me a new week. Leave behind the last and make the most of what’s ahead. I had a manic week last week but the weekend allowed for fun and alone time. Onward to my recap with my daily lewks. 😉

Friday: Fridays can be a jam at work. We hosted a technology day for our colleagues to get to learn what the nerds under CTIO do. I’m not saying I’m one of those nerds… but I helped with a colour coded presentation for my department. *shrug* I had fun with this lewk; A “masc” element with a vintage navy New York Yankees sweater, white button up from Asos, cute baggy looking grey pinstriped ankle length pants and red New Balance 373s. My first pair of NB’s before the obsession started. I randomly wore mustard and white polka dot socks because that morning I looked at the sneakers and wishing they had some yellow on them. Make it work.

Friday

Saturday: Friday went from after work drinks, to a great birthday dinner in Norwood, to a sweat inducing, house-party feeling good vibes only jol at La Santa to eventually a necessary underground after-after party at Toy Toy. I couldn’t Saturday until I had to meet friends at the Joburg Bubbly Festival in all black with a biker jacket, ripped at the knee jeans, Reebok classics and finished off with a multi-patterned monochromey scarf. Didn’t expect to have as much fun as I did at the fest, also discovered some new wines.

Mirror-style-wk20-2

Saturday

Sunday: Stayed in watching Netflix documentaries (they are always an easier watch then starting a whole new series) for most of the day until I got cabin fever and decided to grab a late lunch. BGR and Starbucks were my targets; bit of beef, splash of lemonade, little coffee. Sorted. Threw on black ankle length pants, black jaguar printed button up, denim jacket and my spacey reflective elite edition New Balance 580s. The glasses where for an extra bit of accessorising. Just nje, nothing serious. Got some air and went straight back to bed. Happiness.

Praise be for my next two weeks that will only be 4 days long thanks to Bushfire Festival out in Swaziland. Next week will be a Bushfire Special of weekend style. No mirror of course. Go forth and do the most this week. I can’t believe May is almost done. Wow.

Ok first of all… this weather is so rude! Like who has time to be wet and cold and drive in the mad Joburg roads?! All I can say is that I’m grateful for the great weather we were served with this weekend. Managed some cute sunworthy lewks on the days I managed to wake up and do stuff. Goodness, did I just ramble on about weather? Let’s go!

Friday: As per usj I had to show up for work. Yawn. Swindled some Hershey’s Kisses in a meeting which was pretty sweet. Everything snowballed from after work drinks at The Royale where shots were involved, a surprisingly fun excursion to Rockets Lolitas for a North side razzle and finally jamming with Batuk at The Tennis Club. All this hopping about was in a black Adidas three-quarter tee, black ankle pants and black paint splashed Asics Gel Lytes. Loved this look. Love black!

Friday

Saturday: As you can imagine from the day before, I was unable to do anything during the day. Slept my LIFE away! Don’t try such things post 30 years old kids. It’s not cute. I only managed to go to a birthday house party in Randburg but that didn’t stop me from turning it out in my new (well old – cos vintage) grey and black striped kimono with black polo-neck, black knee length skirt and white Asics Lyte Joggers trainers. Black again.

Saturday (night)

Sunday: After plenty more sleep and an early night, the house houseband and I headed to Nirox Sculpture Park for the annual Winter Sculpture Fair. Nirox is always a great little getaway especially when you can appreciate art in such a great setting. It was hella crowded, but it never disappoints. Kept it Sunday with a chunky mustard jersey over a white button. Custom made wide-legged wrap pants (holla if you’re into them) and cream leather Puma Basket platform sneaks.

Weekend Mirror Style

This has to be one of my favourite weekends this year! I know… Quite a big statement. We are on month 5 and there have been some WEEK ENDS! This particular one was just a nice variation of catchups, me time and a whole lot of being out and being at 3 places in one day with 4 sets of different people. Pretty much sums me up really. Extroverted introvert who is a secret recluse but also super social. Helped to have my instastories to act like a fool on camera while being alone at home all day. Anyway… This is about the lewks! Leggo!

Friday: The 9 to 5, then met up with my Jozi fam for a young catchup. We tried out the new spot in Linden called Van Der Linde. Great food, amazing cocktails and beautiful space. Working and dining was done in a grey polo-neck, ripped jeans, brown boots and an olive coat. Loved this colour combo. Autumn realness!

Friday

Saturday: This was recluse-ville day. I only left the house to go to a yoga class in the morning. Unwashed, uncombed and unbothered. I did this in a white tee and these red harem pants. The lady at the Whippet was so confused because she’s only ever seen me styled out. Loved it. Alas, no pic in the mirror. Great day though.

Sunday: This was the world tour day. Brunch at The Richmond, Victoria Yards (which I’ll be doing a post for) and The Pan African Rum Fest and Kitcheners. A lot of a lot. Maybe I was making up for staying indoors all of Saturday, but I had one of the best Sundays ever. All with different people, vibes and energies. Thanks to everyone I saw, y’all are great! All this running around was done in my new fave, an imported white tee with PRADA and the Spice Girls printed on it, black ankle length pants, cute ass black leather platforms and a tartan print beret. Not gonna lie, I was living for this look. Spiced up my life for sure!
